Hi All!
You know I try to fill The Garden of Eatin with as much local and Maine produced products as I can..But did you know that even some of the "exotic" fruits we carry are still locally owned, or at least related to some of our local people? One of our customer's, a native of Columbia South America, family produces bannanas under sveral labels. So, most likely if your see bannanas grown in Columbia, their family's cooperative is involved. And now we have another customer who has been in the fresh fruit industry in California and while visiting their children and grandchildren in Dresden for the summer, they are having real tree ripened fruit shipped out for he and the kids to sell. They are storing what peaches, plums and nectarines they have left after thier weekend sales in our cooler.
Tonight, just before we closed I tried a peach and nectarine. WOW! Nobody has fruit that tastes like that! It really does taste like it was just picked. Actually, it has only been off the tree for five days! This stuff is awesome! You won't find anything like it in the big stores, guaranteed. But we will have it all available this week and every week through the summer! How I'd savor a fresh peach cobbler, right now!
This place only gets better and better!
Have a great week!
